"Want a Fresh One?"

Uncle Nick's New York Style Bagels and Subs
Anyone who has ever had "New York Style" bread and bagels knows just how delicious they are! Nothing beats their authentic crispiness and smell. When you're born and raised in New York, some "New York Style" food just doesn't have that certain authenticity to it. To try and fix this problem Uncle Nick's N.Y. Style Bagels, Subs, & Deli has decided as a family to bring that authentic New York style taste to Lakeland, FL.

About Uncle Nick's New York Style Bagels, Subs & Deli

Picture
Uncle Nick’s New York Style Bagels, Subs, & Deli was started by first cousins Nick and Ken DeBellis, Ken being a longstanding resident of Lakeland, FL.

All were born and raised in New York where they grew up in the food business. The trio recently got together and lamented about the inability to find good quality “New York Style” bread and bagels across the country.

So, rather than accepting such a terrible thing, they decided to take matters into their own capable hands. From the beginning, it was decided that if the authenticity, crispiness, smell, and other aspects of New York bagels, subs, and food could not be replicated, the endeavor would not be pursued. The last thing the world needs is another mediocre bagel and sandwich shop.

After an extensive amount of research, trial, and error, we are thrilled to report that through the use of top quality ingredients and proprietary recipes, we have achieved the kind of quality in our products that we were seeking. But don't just take our word for it; come see for yourself! As we grow throughout the area, this will be a joy for the people of the Sunshine State who have unfairly done without "the real thing" for so long!

So who is "Uncle Nick"?

Uncle Nick DeBellis
Uncle Nick was the father of owner Nick Jr. and food business “mentor” of sorts to owner Ken DeBellis. Uncle Nick was the consummate family man, raising four children (Nick Jr., Dorene, Chris and Anthony) with Stephanie, his strong and influential wife of over 50 years. Born and raised in the Bronx, Uncle Nick began working in the food business at age 14 and owned his own deli in New York for 25 years. He was a hardworking, hands-on man who always gave his customers a great value and never compromised on the quality of his product.

Every morning at 4 am, he answered the bell and went to work. Along the way, he taught his family his unsurpassed work ethic and methods for success. As our endeavor continues to grow, so will the legacy of and our tribute to "Uncle Nick" DeBellis who touched the lives of many as he worked, conversed, and advised many from behind the counter.

Bagel Care

Many customers have asked what is the best way to “heat and eat” a bagel. We posed this question to Aunt Stephanie, Uncle Nick’s wife of 50 plus years, and here is your answer:
  • Turn your oven on bake at 350 degrees
  • Put the bagel(s) in the oven immediately upon turning it on
  • When your oven reaches 350 degrees and beeps, the bagel should be perfect and ready to eat
  • This may require just a little bit of trial and error as all ovens are slightly different
  • Feel the bagel for desired crispness and adjust accordingly
  • You can also cut it in half and toast it if you prefer
There you have it… straight from the mouth of Aunt Stephanie, one who is never afraid to voice her opinion.
So buy a baker’s dozen, freeze what you don’t eat today, and break ‘em out the next time you want one, which will probably be tomorrow!!
